Ellen has been a physiotherapist at Sports Centre Physiotherapy since graduating from Dalhousie University in 2015. In that time, Ellen has been committed to expanding her knowledge in facets of physiotherapy by taking a variety of postgraduate-level courses. These courses range from vestibular rehabilitation to functional dry needling.

Vestibular Rehabilitation: In 2018 Ellen completed Advanced Vestibular Rehabilitation through the Dizziness and Balance Rehabilitation Clinic. As such, she is interested in treating clients dealing with vertigo, dizziness, imbalance, and other inner ear dysfunctions.

Concussion Therapy: In 2016 Ellen completed her training to become a certified concussion management practitioner through Complete Concussion Management Inc. (CCMI). As part of her training, Ellen can perform baseline tests for athletes and rehabilitate any individual who has suffered a concussion. As part of the CCMI program, clinicians are required to re-certify every two years to stay on top of the latest research regarding concussion management. In addition, Ellen enjoys helping anyone who has suffered a concussion return to their work and leisure activities.

Orthotics: In 2018 Ellen took part in a course focusing on Custom Orthotic Therapy from The Orthotic Group. Ellen has a particular interest in treating foot and ankle pain, so learning to fit orthotics only made sense!

On A Personal Note: Outside of the clinic, Ellen enjoys several different activities. She has been an active field hockey player since her days with the Women’s Field Hockey Team at UPEI. She continues to travel throughout North America, participating in tournaments. More recently, Ellen has taken up disc golf. She enjoys getting out in all seasons (even winter!) to play at the beautiful courses PEI has to offer. Ellen has also been a hockey referee since 2004 and enjoys travelling throughout PEI to officiate various levels.

Jacob Halloran (He/Him) completed a BSc (Honours) in Medical Sciences and Bioethics at Dalhousie University in 2020 before graduating with his Masters of Physical Therapy from the University of Western Ontario in August 2022. He is excited to be working exclusively with the Holland College Hurricanes program to provide both clinical and in-game coverage throughout the 2024-25 season as the Sports Centre Physiotherapy Fellow. Athletes who need physiotherapy support throughout the year are encouraged to reach out to our Sports Centre team to schedule clinical appointments as needed.

Throughout his studies at Dalhousie and Western Universities, Jacob served as co-captain for multiple varsity cross country and track and field teams. His final season was cut short, however, by a chronic hip-groin injury that turned out to be tears in both his hip labrum and hip adductor tendon. Through his experience, Jacob has come to deeply value the importance of patient advocacy while navigating complex sport- and occupational-related injuries with multiple care providers. He also understands the significant impact physical dysfunction can have on an individual’s mental health, and supports both physical and mental wellness in his clients’ rehabilitation.

Jacob continues to train and compete as a post-collegiate distance runner with the Slow Ships Athletics Club, and has previously volunteered time coaching with the Dalhousie Tigers Cross Country and Track teams. He enjoys peaceful evenings of board games with friends, exploring local cafes and breweries, and he is always on the lookout for new podcast or show recommendations to keep entertained during his hours of cardio.
